This weekend Chanteuse were delighted to return to competing after such a long break forced by Covid. We travelled to Bath to compete in the Mid Somerset Festival, and were thrilled to win classes for the best Folk Songs (the Ethel Denny Salver), best Popular or Show Tune (The Centenary Trophy), the best Female Voice Choir (the Hilda Bowrey Memorial Cup), and the best Sacred Music (the Mallory Challenge Trophy). We were also the runners-up in the Best Ensemble Class.
We had a wonderful day; it was the most emotional return to making and listening to music with other choirs and choral ensembles, and we look forward to many more occasions like this in the future. Our next competition will be the semi-finals of the Midlands Choir of the Year, on 22nd May in Lichfield.
We offer our heartfelt congratulations to all the choirs who took part - the standard was incredibly high and was evidence of all the hard work and determination by all the talented singers to recover after such a long time away from making music together.
Not to mention the teamwork needed to make sure that those lovely signature dresses always look the part!
